Why Recruiting New Youth into Scouting Matters

Recruiting new youth into Scouting is about more than growing numbers—it’s about shaping the next generation of leaders. Through Scouting, young people develop confidence, character, and resilience while learning real-world skills that prepare them for life. Every new Scout gains access to outdoor adventure, mentorship, and opportunities to lead, serve, and succeed.

Strong recruitment ensures that more youth can experience the values of the Scout Oath and Law, building a foundation of integrity, service, and responsibility. It also strengthens local units, creating vibrant, active programs where friendships are formed and leadership is developed.

When we recruit, we are investing in our communities. Scouts grow into engaged citizens, prepared to make a positive impact in their schools, neighborhoods, and beyond.

Simply put—when we bring more youth into Scouting, we build a stronger future for everyone.

Our Membership Vision

We want to grow Scouting across our communities so that every family knows the value of the program and every youth who wants to lead, explore, and succeed has a place to belong.

Our Membership Mission

To actively grow Scouting by reaching more families, welcoming every interested youth, and delivering high-quality programs that inspire adventure, build leadership, and create a strong sense of belonging in every community we serve.
