Among the requirements to receive a Doctorate of Commissioner Science (DCS) degree, the candidate must also complete either a thesis or a project. These must be oriented toward unit service and be approved in advance. After working with an advisor, the work will be submitted for approval by a review committee.
The papers below were submitted by Indian Waters Council Scouters. These papers are posted to both give you an idea of what might be included as part of the effort, but they can also give you an idea of the diversity of ideas that may be addressed. If you are a commissioner, and you think you may be interested in pursuing a DCS, please download the Doctorate and Knot Award Guidebook & IWC Supplement at the Indian Waters Council Commissioner Corner (https://indianwaters.org/doctorate-of-commissioner-science-knot-award/). If you have any questions, please contact Lee Doty at LeeDoty@CommissionerBSA.com concerning the requirements.
