The Midlands Meet the Highlands
Scouts of Scotland International Jamborette at Blair Castle in the Highlands of Scotland
July 14-August 5 2018

Indian Waters Council is sending a coed contingent of 10 youth to Scotland's 2018 Blair Atholl International Jamborette in Perthshire, Scotland.

The Blair Atholl Jamborette is Scottish Scouting's premier international event. It brings together over 1,000 Explorer Scouts and Leaders from all over the world for a 10 day camp in a picturesque corner of highland Perthshire, about 2 hours north of Edinburgh. Every 2 years since 1946 the tranquil grounds of Blair Castle have been transformed with participants from all over the world coming together to camp and share in fun, friendship, and a massive range of adventurous activities and challenges.

Travel and Touring: July 14-August 5
Jamborette Dates: July 17-27

Age: Youth must be age 14-17 on July 16, 2018. This adventure is perfect for older youth with high adventure experience and leadership skills. 10 youth will be selected (4 female and 6 male)

The projected cost per youth is $3000 for 22+ days in Scotland and includes:

  • Attending the 36th International Jamborette at Blair Atholl Castle for 10 days (with contingents from 8-12 other countries) including all activities;
  • all transportation including airfare (if airfare is lower the difference will be rebated);
  • 5 days of home-stay hosted by Scotland Scouts;
  • 3-6 days of additional touring to places around Scotland;
  • admissions for events and historic sites; and
  • contingent t-shirts, hat, and special event patches.

Activities during the Jamborette include climbing, abseiling (rappelling), horseback riding, castle walks, canyoning, mountain rescue, water sports, bushcraft, team challenges, and much more. Since this is an international event the youth will be able to make friends from all over the world.

After the Jamborette the youth will have 4-5 days of home-stay adventure with Scouts of Scotland families. Then we regroup for more touring of Scotland. Additional touring in Scotland will be planned by the youth contingent.
